Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Netflix deal

Does anybody else think this is a complete waste of money?

General Motors and Netflix are joining forces to give electric vehicles (EVs) the stage they deserve, reflecting society’s increasing excitement about an all-electric future, starting with a launch spot, “EVs On Screen.”

The commercials are not effective to me. They should have focused on the benefits of EV ownership about which we generally wouldn't know.

Elderly midwesterners are GM's customer base.

Nobody in NY or California drives GM

Once you drive an EV you will never go back. Only downside is road trips once or twice a year.

I figured those "midwestern boomers" were the only one ignorant enough to put up GM's persistent half truths. Where are the robo taxis? Where are all the EVs? The non-leaders, according to GM, are still ahead after years.

“If you ignore the biggest cities where the people who make the most money live, nobody wants EVs”.

Sounds like GM might finally be learning that relying on nobody but midwestern Boomers for advice is a bad idea!

I fail to see the excitement for EVs these advertising folks are referring to. Maybe it’s there in some major metropolitan areas or coastal states but no one I know is interested in an EV. Will be interesting to see the take rate as more EVs come to market.

Living in NE Florida now, retired. The only public charging stations I have seen are a bank of Tesla chargers located in the Target parking lot, across the street from Daytona International Speedway.

Hardly think the charging infrastructure is where it needs to be right now to convince the public to buy electric.

Advertising is the veil with which GM tries to hide their persistent BS.

What do see in advertisements? EVs
What do you see on the roads? Gas guzzlers
