I just joined the company. The recruiters talked up the benefits including insurance. Now I can’t seem to find a dentist who takes our Delta Dental insurance. Is there a shortage of dentists in Houston or is Delta Dental just garbage insurance?

The problem with Delta is there are dozens of plans based on the states and the negotiated rates our dentists must accept are all different and constantly changing. For anyone who isn’t aware, we are on Delta Dental of Georgia (not Texas or any of other scam states mentioned in the replies). No dentist in Texas took it until their customers asked them to. So go ask your favorite dentist to sign up. And be nice because it’s a bit of work for them to join the network and keep up with constant changes. And also be nice because in American dentistry the insurance reimbursement rates are so low that they make no money on you at all for exams and cleanings. They are really just establishing a relationship with you and waiting for your bigger dental problems to come.
Our Houston dentist officially doesn't accept anyone's insurance but they file with DD for us. We usually end up paying $20 per visit but we paid that with the previous provider too.
I know the campus dentist accept it but do not recommend them based on my experience

@OP Percison Dental near the campus will take it. DD is not the best insurance and XOM keeps cutting what it covers every year
@OP - I'm sorry you that they pitched you a load of BS. Best of luck & make sure to floss & brush frequently, as Delta is garbage insurance. Also, just in general at XOM, trust no one.

Very few providers here in Western Pennsylvania accept Delta insurance. Unfortunately, that's the only dental insurance my employer provides. :(

We used to have Aetna which most dental providers accepted.
