Sadly there were people on here who bought into Tritton's "experience" and ability to "turn this around"- "just watch!"
Most of us figured he was here for a quick paycheck.

Triton the Traitor! Triton the Traitor! That sad sack is laughing now!
Yes I got paid very well, thanks for asking. The company wasn’t on the brink of bankruptcy then….whole different ball game now!
To the poster who "gave" 17 years. You got paid right? You could have left. Times change. Retail.changed
The one thing I wanted for you guys came to fruition in terms of getting a verdict. I have been out of the place since COVID began, and we could go into a few things over that but I will not at the moment. Let's put it this way- at the time I had a decent ASM whose big goal was to make it to 25 years so he could get a lifetime 20% discount. We told him that was not going to happen. I had a SM who said he "knew nothing" about the threats to evict the place by the landlord when it was in the local papers. And I had friends who worked there who thought, in 2018, that it would "last 5 years".
Sometimes the only way to get to reality is by having the worst thing happen to you. I have been there with a domicile: it made me stronger and more flexible. We had many deniers on here, but there were also many deniers on Yahoo's finance conversations. I tend to believe the ones on Layoff were genuine. I cannot say that many on Yahoo were true at all. Motives on there were questioned, hence I came on here agreeing with those who said to ignore the stock price. It was manipulated.
That said, MT's hiring was hailed by many on here as a godsend. Be careful what you wish for, I guess. People at my store were very wary of him and many thought he was in it for a quick paycheck. But blame does not stop there with corporate by any means. They were far too late with eCommerce, they did not handle it well per the horror stories and what we saw for returns at the store level. It reflected poorly on the people who were creating the orders on Beyond as people came back and started "shooting the messengers".
I wanted closure for those remaining as it was very unfair of the company to put you in this purgatory in terms of a job and I hope you get that. Now for bigger and better things. The writing on the wall cannot be ignored anymore.
Na, Na nah na na hey hey hey goodbye
I’m the OP and I feel the same way. Gave them 17 years until recently. Loved my job for the first 10 of those then the vibe changed. Decisions that made no sense came into play and that was the beginning of the spiral down (at least in my store). My coworkers were like family and we had the best time whilst getting the job done. I was proud to tell folks where I worked.
Sad to see the direction BBBY has taken and it’s too late the game to change the rules.
It could never have survived given their corporate views and concepts.
How did they go through all that money in 2 years. I think there needs to be a criminal investigation. The CFO knew something that’s why he is gone . So sad.
It is very very sad to see this. I worked for this company for many years. It was a great company for many years. Number 1 in Bridal and when asked we’re do you work ? They would allways say I love ❤️ that place. Triton has a lot to answer for. He tried to make us Target and all he did was make us Bankrupt.! Good luck to all in the next few months while they figure out what to do .
