Spin off WD_Black and the other retail HDDs.. Keep the Ultrastar cash cow (HGST). SSDs are great but to much of a volatile market, historically. That said, having a greater share of the market would mean more control over setting pricing. The big obvious downside would be the debt.

In negotiations. Expect layoffs mostly from the WD side. Products are not competitive . WD reminds me of a company that thinks it's important but competitively way behind. US government wants prop up WD, Micron and Intel.
