Yes. What's so hard to understand about capitalism? You're employed as long as you remain profitable based on some totally arbitrary metric. Amazon just announced 18K layoffs. Cisco is in turmoil with its current ELT and will therfore keep resorting to layoffs to artificially maintain a favorable revenue/cost balance. Employees don't matter, pleasing shareholders is the goal.
