If none of your superiors knows you're doing work then they probably figure you're just moving your mouse around all day. And if you are, you should know exactly what metrics you should be hitting, beat out everyone who has the same, and have everyone with influence think you're the bee's knees. If you're in a division that's in decline, make plans for escape.
