PepsiCo's Rank - WSJ - The 2026 Best Companies for the Future

The Wall Street Journal evaluates how leading US corps stack up in 6 areas: AI readiness, innovation, talent readiness, financial fitness, resilience and agility.

PepsiCo ranks #64 overall with an Overall Score of 61.0, placing it 2nd out of 22 companies in Food, Beverage & Tobacco. Its strongest signals are Financial Fitness Rank #45, Innovation #56, AI #91, and Resilience #146. That is a strong result for a consumer staples company.

The strategic read is that PepsiCo screens as a defensive compounder with more future-readiness than the sector average. Its weaker areas are Talent Readiness #207 and Agility #261, which suggest scale and complexity still weigh on operating speed. Even so, relative to traditional staples, PepsiCo looks unusually well-positioned because it combines brand durability, financial strength, and credible innovation.

Did the article mention PEP's stock performance is pathetic ? a YTD return of 0.77% ? and the price of $141 is the same price it was 5 years ago in 2021...
