Chevron's Rank - WSJ - The 2026 Best Companies for the Future

The Wall Street Journal evaluates how leading US corps stack up in 6 areas: AI readiness, innovation, talent readiness, financial fitness, resilience and agility.

Chevron ranks #185 overall with an Overall Score of 52.5, which is above the Energy industry average of 47.2. Its strongest factors are AI Rank #53 and Innovation Rank #83, both notably strong for an energy major. That is a positive surprise and suggests the ranking is picking up some degree of technology modernization.

The major weakness is Resilience Rank #465, a very poor score that drags down the overall profile. Agility is also only #244, and Financial Fitness is #194. The strategic implication is that Chevron looks more future-ready than many energy peers on AI and innovation, but the resilience factor is a serious offset. The model appears to penalize exposure to geopolitical, supply-chain, commodity, or transition risks.
