You don't successfully make these transitions without shedding headcount
Sorry you fell for the propaganda. When a company fires thousands of people in one round, it isn't "targeted", they're just reducing costs.
And if you look at Salesforce stock, they didn't "successfully" transition to anything. The stock is near 2023 levels.
You might want to do more research on layoffs at Datadog. They have had their share.
@ca+1kv3z9c22 - Salesforce is one of the few tech companies that made transitions better than most - cloud, subscription, data, and AI. You don't successfully make these transitions without shedding headcount that’s not aligned with the transformation. Plain and simple.
guess it's time for me to move to datadog, see you all later ✌️
Apple also very rarely does layoffs. This is what good management looks like. It isn't impossible.
If you look at the companies that are serial-layoff machines, none of them are tier-one, none of them are sought out by top talent. Endless layoffs just create a spiral of uncaring among employees, leading to mediocrity, leading to more layoffs.
Look at Salesforce for example. They were once a tier-one Silicon Valley company, then they went through id--tic over-hiring followed by repeated rounds of big layoffs. No one considers them tier-one anymore.

Datadog isn’t exactly setting the world on fire lol
