Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Looking for PhD to do what?????

https://jobs.exxonmobil.com/ExxonMobil/job/Houston-PhD-Students-Seeking-Full-Time-TX-77001/927061300/

So it looks like now the company is so desperate for talent that is recruiting for everything+anybody+everywhere.

If your google search brought you to this TheLayoff post, please take the time to scroll down and investigate about this declining company.

There's a reason for such a generic job post: EM has lost so much top talent in the last 3 years that it is now desperate.

Love the fact that ad lists Paulsboro as a potential location. Maybe they don’t know it’s closed…

This is definitely PIP cannon fodder. The PhD requirement is there to give them the highest CL possible

....If you are a student pursuing a PhD in Data Science and are interested in being considered for full time employment with ExxonMobil in the U.S., .... you are either crazy or $tup1d or delusional.

With such a degree you can find so many better jobs.

Look elsewhere please.

I laughed when I saw the part about “Opportunity awaits. How will you use your energy to change the world?”

The real opportunity is to help the remaining managers get his/her next promotion and to create PowerPoint slides. Even Excel sheets may be too complicated for some.

I would not recommend any young person start their career in a dying industry unless they are desperate.

And why PhDs??!!

There's no hi-tech here and no incentive to innovate. Basic PowerPoint and Excell skills are most than enough to any EM job competently.

This is right out of the historical ExxonMobil playbook. Tear down and rebuild buy spending your way out of a crisis. No long term vision and strategy.

And why are they posting this job for the USA. I thought all the talent was in Malaysia and India?
