I hope that this year all of you who are hoping to leave Cisco behind will find a way to do it that meets all of your needs, and all of us who are hoping to stay will get a chance to relax and not worry about layoffs at least for a bit. Call me a fool, but I'm an optimist and I believe things will work out for all of us in the end.

Why does the OP sound bitter? I didn’t pick up on that. However, being laid off can give emotions of being rejected, and feeling sad, hurt, angry and even bitter is only natural. It’s not fair to judge those feelings this way. Being laid off is not a positive event, so having some negative feelings should be understandable. There’s a mourning period to any loss, including of a job. Maybe have some empathy as people work through these emotions.
