Thread regarding VMware layoffs

The acquisition can't come soon enough

I'm tired of waiting to see if I'll stay or be kicked to the curb. I'm waiting because I don't want to miss out on severance, but I'm starting to think it's not worth it, considering the wait. I might be naive, but I did believe the whole thing would be done before the end of the year. I was very much wrong, apparently.

If you’re feeling the stress that much, waiting for severance isn’t worth your peace of mind.

Think about it. If you stay on you need to re-apply for a job having Bcom staff as competition (that much Hock mention on first all staff).

If you make it and you like / don’t mind working for Bcom - congrats.

If you don’t make or you get the severance straight away - good luck to you. Difference of looking for a job now or later is now you got limited competition.

Later you have 1000s of people getting laid off flooding the market with good and bad people competing for the same jobs.

So your odds are better now. If you wait and get laid off the job search will take longer and your severance will be eaten up in no time.

Ask your BU leader to consider you for layoffs. Hope you get out of the company soon and obtain peace of mind

Quitting without a new job isn’t ideal unless your mental health is really suffering. Better to stick it out and work simultaneously with doing a job search imho.

For all the cr-p given on this side about VMware culture and how much it sucks, you will wish for it once the money grubbing a$$holes from Broadcom take over. That doesn’t mean people won’t stay, but it will be a different ballgame run by parasites.

Good luck on your search.

Quitting without getting a severance payment is definitely using that big brain of yours.

By all accounts, some sort of layoffs will be in January. Contact your boss to be put out
in front of the line.

@OP+1kpsVFEf Same here. Can't take the waiting game and anxiety any more. Better to quit.

I'm so happy I left. It's nice not having it lingering in the back of my mind knowing that the leaders are lying right to our faces.

Be patient! If the deal will be closed by November 1st, 2023 , it will fall through,
