Thread regarding ExxonMobil Singapore layoffs

What the company wants and what it has been doing is very contradictory

Firstly, Company wants high performance talents, but it doesnt want to pay to that standard, that is the main reason why many department could not recruit experineced hires. Many years ago, good people queue to join EM they will join even without a payraise, now they will not join unless there is a huge payraise because they know they will suffer here, if suffering without good compensation, what for? - this is also applicable to existing employees.
Secondly, company wants to "streamline" (aka downsize) reources especially in expensive places like US Singapore, however they are still hiring in these places! Of course I know it is because the attrition rate was beyond expectation, but WTF, can you let us know what your EXPECTED ATTRITION RATE? That means the company wants to get people out with so called natural attrition tactics. For those who are joining now, mass layoff will wait for you very soon when oil price plunges, and you will find you get nothing but get fxxked by the company with "natural attrition"!

Thirdly, company wants good experinced people but they donnt want to spend effort to keep the existing good experienced employees. Watching 10+ years experienced people leaving is like watching black holes being created in that position, the black holes then absorb energy and morale and faith of people who stay nearby. EM management think anyone can take the job but that is not true, the experiences in those people will only be reflected when there is a big incident, where EM believes in its "perfect documentation and systems which enables anyone to pickup jobs in a day" - lets pray the big incident is not happening to you or me.

Enough said, I personally do not think they company can go anywhere unless they allow experienced outside management level people to join the ELT CLT CRLT and make decisions. People who are born with the systen have huge blind spots which they are unable to discover and even if they discover they choose to ignore because that was the system from which they were born.
