How common are NDAs when applying for jobs?

I've been asked to sign an NDA before my interview next week and this is the first time something like that happened to me. Am I to understand that this is a standard procedure and I should just do it? I admit I haven't had the need to interview in a while, so maybe things have changed since then.

Most companies ask you to sign an NDA now. During the interview you may learn "inside information" and this (sort of) protects them from you disclosing it. Most senior level jobs ask this of you, we even do this at VMW for certain senior level positions. This is not a big deal, and happening more and more for ALL levels.

It’s your choice. You can always say no and decline the interview or ask an attorney to review and give suggestions

Microsoft does this.

Very common so nothing to worry about. Be honest about accomplishments in how they improved the business. Focus on any numbers you can provide like percentage increases/decreases, dollar saved, etc

Not uncommon....and not a big deal. Actually, it gives you an excuse to be vague on your accomplishments at prior companies (ie "I can't discuss that").
