I used to work a lot of overtime, but now I feel that I need to slow down and stop working so many long hours. I'm curious how much overtime you guys work here?

Hey buddy, the same thing is happening in our EOR BU. Although I got lucky with just two leases, that’s not always the case for my peers. LOL
Moving ahead is about 80% political, 10% skill, and 10% luck. Approach work accordingly and see how the results are. Overtime does not necessarily equate to a better outcome. They will always take more for the same.
Management takes advantage if you show them that you can handle the workload of multiple people.
Had bosses remind me that there was a line of willing professionals that would take my place if I didn't want my job. Take your foot off of the gas pedal and see what happens.... Worked late, weekends and holidays to do what what was required. A challenging profession that has paid dividends for hard work.
Glad you put the word major there. Lots of people at Oxy think they are working for a major. This company is not a major oil company although the CEO thinks it is. It is far from that. It is a medium league independent. Lots of ego though.
I was staff and ended putting in extra hours once I saw management were taking advantage of it. I was only on around 72 an hour, so being screwed on overtime that was unpaid wasn’t happening. Companies like Oxy weren’t worth it and am now in a much better comp package with a major.
Is this paid overtime you are referring to? Salaried people are not paid overtime but get to keep nice paying and responsible jobs if they put extra time in to get the job done. There is no comp time for nights and weekends unless you work out an unofficial deal with your supervisor.
