The Model T provided an improvement for consumers. It was functional and affordable for many. What improvement does an EV provide for consumers? It is every engineers dream to work on an overpriced, less capable, product.

@vcd+1knB2SpQ - The Model T was released after a bit of infrastructure was already built-out for gasoline and beyond that it was a multi-fuel engine that could also be run on kerosene or ethanol. As mentioned below, carrying additional fuel was & still is a common practice when travelling where fuel might not be readily available. That's not something you can do with pure electric, and personally I'd had to see what a towing bill is for calling them out since you ran out of charge in your EV. Another thing that takes the wind out of the Model T analogy is that the population distribution was much different in that era, suburbia as we know it essentially didn't exist. You would be driving your Model T either in the city or directly along the main route to the next town over.

Toyota is just waiting for the EV system to be perfected (if it ever does) and then steal the technology and jump on the band wagon.

Charging stations aren’t the issue, it’s charge times with current LI battery tech, a charge station on every corner doesn’t solve this. Think of the cost and weight saves if every ICE vehicle had a 5 gallon gas tank. It would only take 2 minutes to fill it too, plus the gas station infrastructure is already in place. Do you have time for that inconvenience?

Oh @vcd how does that even compare? People carried cans with extra fuel for rural and long trips back in the day. A practice that continues to this day for people out in the remote areas.

When the 1st model T came out do your believe there were gas stations every 25 miles?

My niece bought a Toyota Highlander Hybrid and she loved it. Since they have 2 kids, now they're looking at buying a Toyota hybrid minivans. They don't want an EV.
