Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Do people still think performance reviews actually matter?

They're just a cover for building layoff lists. So definitely don't ki-l yourself for this lousy bank. Won't make a difference.

@OP performance reviews can matter for constructive development in a quality company including the former Bank of New York and former Mellon. That being said, make no mistake they mean nothing for you at current state BNY. They will not read your goals or self review. For them, is a tool to place you on a layoff list after fabricating a fake review and then paying little to no severance on the way out. Your direct line manager has minimal if any control over this process. If there were a big media drop on this subject it would look bad but made up reviews not technically illegal as I understand. I would encourage anyone subjected to this nonsense to engage legal counsel when or maybe even before termination and legally challenge them on a ‘protected class’ issue. You can easily find one. They will pay you vs challenging it every time given have no viable legal department. Myself and others have successfully done this.

They do not matter. After EOY it bullsh-t, it just proves that this place is led by sc-mbags. To be so freaking bold to alter ratings after direct managers entered them just so they can terminate and not pay severance or reduce you and take your damn merit increases because you are work from home, because of them mind you, just shows it DOES NOT MATTER!!!! If there is any chance of burning these fu--s hard, a ton of us need to report them to your states EEOC dept, and put this sh-t and all sh-t they do dirty in front of the media to get eyes on it. Do not wait for someone else to do it. We need it done in very large numbers

They matter with respect to what rating you were given. Makes absolutely no difference what you wrote (or did for that matter).
