Thread regarding Belk layoffs

LinkedIn paints a scary picture for Belk

If you actually study LinkedIn for Belk starting with an HRBP, then look at all layers of management starting with store managers going up to directors of stores or higher, it’s a web of people who have been

  1. Fired from Macys and other corporations from everything from workplace indiscretion, se-ual harassment claims, to plain old incompetence
  1. people that have suffered from substance abuse problems in the past or currently
  1. people who were terminated for inaccurate resumes
  1. People who have had se-ual relationships with each other
  1. An indisputable large number of Macys rejects.

Absolutely scary that our leadership is a web of corporate lackeys and former corporate failures.

I mean, look at Belks new CMO/president... She literally took over steinmart and ran it into bankruptcy within 5 years. Before her, the cmo was Kolbe who destroyed Kohls PB business then came to Belk and lasted a year. The rest of leadership is cycled through the various businesses of Sycamore

Look at former belk store managers most went to places like tj maxx, Marshall’s, Burlington, or target. That says it all.

I am only posting about belk because thats where I work. I don't know about other retail but I know belk has become pretty sleazy. It doesn't matter what you are selling you can still try to be a decent person.

You post as if you think all of retail isn't like this. Not exactly selling rocket engines here.

So true. And so belk. Isn't that they way they run belk, lets act like belk is still a nice store as it falls down around us. It's so embarrassing.

I love all the senior level managers and VP’s posing for pictures together on their LinkedIn profiles with a captions like “what a productive conference today” or “Belk’s holiday season is in full bloom” or something along those lines. Its cringeworthy looking at those pictures, knowing what’s really going on behind the scenes.

Also look at their job history, one of the Belk executives worked at a major retailer for less than six months, then moved to another company for less than a year, then moved to Belk, if someone has a worked history like that’s it’s probably because the company they were working for found something out about them and then terminated them. And they all end up at Belk sooner or later.
