Thread regarding 3M layoffs

What happened to Minnesota nice?

Used to be one could handle the 4 months of winter because everyone was so nice and the cost of living wasn't too bad and 3M paid top dollar.

30 years ago the Mall of America opened up. 3M had a lifetime employment philosophy - as long as you didn't commit theft or expense report fraud, you had a job for life.

Now, people get 250 everyday wins points from an automated email the same day they are told to exit 3M stage on Dec 31st via a Zoom call with 10 people from legal and HR. They lose their March bonus too, because they "left" but not "after" Dec 31st.

MOA has become a shooting gallery where NY giants players had to shelter in place last night. Haven't been to MOA in about 5 years but it felt safe in a weekday afternoon. Now forget it. It's become BOA as in Brawl of America.

Throw in, even with global warming, the winters still sux, sub 30 below wind chill this week. The state is running a huge surplus on high tax rates but no call to refund any of this to the workers.

Anybody else lamenting the death of Minnesota nice?

Yes, 3M publicly promoted the "opportunity" for employees to donate to pay for bail after the riots in Minnesota. Also, some kind of legal support was "volunteered" by the legal team, even though 3M has no one trained in criminal justice. I believe a corporate donation was made to some kind of legal fund.

Meanwhile, police are abused in funding and speeches by minneapolis politicians, crime has spread to Roseville, Woodbury, etc.

Bring back the likes of Desi as CEO, Arne as governor, Coleman as St. Paul mayor, and get back the better times in Minnesota and at 3M.

And fire every GE import, starting with monish please.

Didn't 3M post on 3M Go that they contributed to Kamala's program that provided cash to bail out "mostly peaceful ptotestors" when Minneapolis was burning to the ground? I'm pretty sure I read that as part of the $50 million DIE effort. If so, there's your answer to Woodbury housing market and ,Minnesota nice

I have learned long time ago you can’t count on government or cooperate America to make better decisions for you. If your happiness depend on the decision they make then you are doomed. I mean c’mon we spent 2 trillion tax payers money in Afghanistan to replace ta----n with ta----n. With Ukraine we are half way there spending tax payers money. Don’t count on surplus money instead expect to pay more in taxes and think about alternative incomes to make the difference.

I retired from 3M and moved away. What you are saying is very true. Where I live now it will be 83 tomorrow.
