Did anyone hear anything about laying off sales personnel?

Hock only wants primary quota carrier. Minimum Mgmt & Support. Expect 70% cut. He will focus on the 20% biggest customers who generate 80% of revenue. He doesn't care about the rest, minimal coverage for them. If you take care of a big client, then you're fine.
Think about how many people in the sales org get paid on a single deal besides the direct account team (AE/SE). Sales ops, layers of sales/presales management, specialists, overlays, revenue folks, etc. There’s a ton of them that can be cut, especially depending on whether they move/consolidate to a pure geo/region model and flatten the field sales org. Could probably cut out a lot of BU specific headcount in presales too if you change the coverage model and just have more generalists and some key overlays/SME’s for the BU’s that stay on.
I mean you have a specialist for every product on an account plus the "account exec specialist". We needed no less then 10 people just to sell vrni and nsx to a customer. Felt like Dell all over again and everybody pointed fingers on who was responsible for certain features.
So yeah I could see some cuts
Idk and idc at this point. Sales is a soul-sucking career. Even worst when you're selling Tanzu.
Do you think today’s sales org could still close deals with fewer people? That’s your answer…
It seems a lot of companies reducing their sales force. Specifically Account Executives and BDRs. I am an AE so I hope it isn’t the same here.
Yes I have heard it will be a focus area of the January layoffs
Supposedly the idea of abandoning enterprise and globals and moving to a pure regional/geo model is under consideration
You never know what a person is going through. Be nice. If you don't want to see these questions, get off this page.
