Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Hiring freeze in EMEA and massive expenses restrictions, whats going on?!

Feels like the weeks before the layoffs in early 2024.

Glad I left that toxic company and retired early 18 months ago. No package, I just resigned being sick of it all. I saved heavily into 401k. It was making me unwell with all the BS, toxicity, BS “training”, nepotism and over-promotion of complete id--ts who know nothing but can weasel with senior management and work their Linked-In profile. A detestable place to work but maybe all tech employers are the same now? I’m still in touch with buddies I worked with and I hear things are even worse these days. And they’ll continue to get worse. Glad to be out of it. I used to love my job at Cisco but they changed, not me.

US tech and other companies have outsourced millions of manufacturing and tech jobs to Asia.

A lot of layoffs are not due to AI. It is actually pressure to maximize profits and meet EPS.

Amzon has reduced US jobs by 25-30% and increased hiring in India by 25-30%. Cisco has been doing it for almost 2 decades after the dotcom bubble.

Greed is everywhere!! Wall Street & tech executives are the most greedy and corrupt! They don’t care about the country or citizens.

After our margin decreased slightly due to the RAM crisis, analysts (I have no idea if anyone can call themselves an analyst these days) cried foul, causing our stock price to plummet. And because we naturally want to keep our shareholders happy, we are doing everything we can to cut costs. Of course, this only applies to the rank and file; the elite can continue to travel without restriction.
