Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Management does nothing

The top people here don't actually do anything. They just collect checks while toxic behavior runs wild. It's changing everyone. You watch people turn into versions of themselves you don't even recognize. It's honestly frightening.

Especially when they (some vp somewhere) has decided you are no longer qualified after 20 years and they isolate you until laid off (toxic to the enth degree). Then a year later you get a call to come do your job as a contractor for 30 percent less than what you made as a FTE. This is top down leadership with no regard for the product any longer. So Sad.

Exactly. It's called the great flattening. It's just another short termmechanism to squeeze out more profit.

Managers at meta have a 50:1 ratio for direct reports so that's probably the future

Managers are trying to justify their jobs. Many large companies like Amazon are eliminating manager positions. It will only be a matter of time before Medtronic removes managers.

Is it just me or has managers become downright je-ks lately? I assume the demands are crazy and causing this royal a-hole attitude but wow, it’s getting bad.

I'd rather be the classic boot on the employee contributor, sc--w the management headaches.

I blame the C suite. They keep pushing unrealistic goals that we have to meet or we will lose our jobs. The current job market su-ks. Therefore, people are willing to do anything including being as*s in order to keep their jobs.

You need to read Bullsh-t Jobs. Management is a bullsh-t job. Most management positions don’t need to exist.
