How reliable are rumors about another major layoff round at the end of January?

Sales and hr to reflect the market conditions, minimal in engineering due to huge attrition already, I think nothing out of sync with the usual Jan layoffs
Sadly, it’s happening. The list is created and ready to go. Happens every year and this year is no different. Enjoying the Christmas break, there is nothing that you can do to change the list.
Getting another job is too tough in this market. Many round of interviews and then rejection. For a single position 50 to 60 applications. Judy imagine!
Enjoy the break with your family and start applying for jobs if you're feeling nervous. I have been feeling the same way about January. It's hard to shake it off after reading all the comments.
VMware always trims some headcount at the end of their fiscal year. The only question this year is how much.
I've seen it pop up one time too many to just ignore it.
