Has anyone heard anything official from the European Commission? I believe today was the provisional deadline, as per the following link: https://ec.europa.eu/competition/elojade/isef/case_details.cfm?proc_code=2_M_10806

The EU will not base its decision by feeling sorry for VMware employees.
The comment isn’t about employees, but about F-ing customers.
Looks like this just got a whole lot more expensive for BC. I never thought this deal made any sense. I imagine some at BC are at least starting to think the same.
"I was hoping for the EU to recognize the scorched earth playbook and say, we understand that is what you are going to do based on decades of that behavior."
Trimming the fat and making your company profitable is not illegal. The EU will not base its decision by feeling sorry for VMware employees.
The arguments the EU are using don’t sound quite legit to me. I don’t know enough but how is Broadcom going to steer customers off nvidia hardware onto their own hardware when they don’t make nvidia-like hardware?
I was hoping for the EU to recognize the scorched earth playbook and say, we understand that is what you are going to do based on decades of that behavior. So no more empty promises to regulators, you are now punished and can’t acquire.
Thoughts?
″‘You are fettered,’ said Hockenezer, trembling. ‘Tell me why?’
“I wear the chain I forged in life,” said the ghost of Jack Welch.
“I made it link by link, and yard by yard, acquisition by acquisition, layoff by layoff; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will, I wore it. Is its pattern strange to you Hock?”
This is now at least 2 times Magoo and our glorious senior leadership said to ignore the rumors and only listen to them, and then the rumors turned out to be true.
I haven’t listened to a word from any leader after the “we are hearing that too” comment on day 1 of this whole clusterFcuk
Give it a try…
I asked Santa to delay the deal and look at what happened.
Now I'm just waiting for Hockenezer Scrooge to be visited by the ghost of Jack Welch, and the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future.
“Bah,” said Hock, “Humbug.”
the good thing is that basically the date is now May 11th. That means you have almost 6 months of stock vesting and it will clear the April Bonus pay date.
So, from a layoff perspective, this is good for most. You get to spend more time on the payroll, vest some stock that you can bank, and get your Bonus in april, All while we know the economy and hiring right now kinda sucks. The more months and $ you can get under your belt before the the layoffs is exactly what you need. The hiring environment is more likely to be better in May and after, than it will be January.
Enjoy. Rest and Vest.

The moral of the story, our leadership will be the last to share big updates related to Broadcom. Not only that, that will provide little clarity or explanation around big updates and what that means for the company and you personally. You are truly better off coming to a site like this to learn things, as d-mb as that sounds.
