Thread regarding Belk layoffs

RVP positions to be eliminated in 2023, replaced with "district leader"

word it that all RVP's will be replaced with a district leader. What is a district leader? it's a store manager who also has RVP duties.

I was a store manager from 2013-2021 and was explicitly told as a store manager that anyone who does not fit new hire criteria must be weeded out. Then the new hires started dropping like flies, and I was left with nobody.

New Hire Criteria is as follows:

must be on call
Under $15
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, early mornings
Must be able to process trucks/work on dock
Possible heavy lifting
Must be willing to complete janitorial tasks if asked

Anyone who says belk is not using attrition or discrimination is a liar, my RVP would continually say “I wanna see new faces in here” (aka cheaper associates )

that’s how they get rid of the highest paid store managers, Dillard’s, Jc Penney, Khols, and Tj Maxx has store managers starting as low as $65,000, which is a lowball offer, most are not cracking $100,000.

RVP’S are making $170,000 and up now. Overpaid is an understatement, now the plan is for store managers making $120,000 to $130,000 to add that on their plate for a slight raise, rumor is if they don’t accept it, they will be let go.

You are correct! Belk regionals were store mangers of flagship stores and ran a region. Don’t know if some can handle that potion now.🤣🤣🤣

Pffffft.

This was something that we had back in the day.

As for RVPs. Useless level of highly paid management that do nothing.

Moreover, most of the RVPs are dinosaurs from the past. Individuals who have never justified their worth and have, for the most
part, been disloyal to Belk. Several are literally despicable clowns.

The biggest question is, with technology and communications such as they are today, us there any need for any level of "management" between stores and corporate?
