Does it appear that HR is setting itself up for a class action suite with demonstrated age based bias? Will 2026 be the year that HR is accountable.

It's not just WM's over 48...it's everyone over 48
@n8 most productive? Please..... Maybe 100 years ago when you used to dig oil with hands
I’ve heard that a group of Non WM have picked up this trend and are actively banding together with their counsel. Hope they remind the execs and HR that they are dangerously close to the edge of illegal (and definitely unethical) behavior!
Getting rid of their most productive workers. The ones who built this company.
Bold strategy Cotton.
Just a correlation not causation. They are going after CL28+ to cut costs. Just happens that the demographic crammed in to that category are WM. Until DEI gets canned, they ditching WM is the only game in town, for the purpose of cost cutting not just so to get rid of WM. Good luck to everyone
Isn't there a slight possibility that WMs become more arrogant, incompetent and lazy as they grow older?
I've seen it in my own family and community.
Just saying.
@OP Probably not.
Not sure why you keep posting this BS.
In all of the refineries, the tech managers have certain targets they must meet to get their annual bonuses. Promoting minorities and thereby suppressing WMs has been on their goal list for decades. They will stop at nothing to get that bonus. Years ago I pushed back as a SLS on the unfair and clearly illegal practices. That was the end of my career in refining.
@bq spot on
@ev I have witnessed plant managers in Baton Rouge push down only WMs. I took detailed notes on it and was shocked when I when back and did the analysis. Happened many years in a row in the assessment. Bias was clear and unquestioned by senior leadership.
@b9 oh but have have witnessed it. Seen it in rank meetings. Seen it just by looking at org charts - almost no WMs in section head roles in EMTEC. How do you think that happens??
@cs. Call out bullshyte, so I must be in dire need of counseling. What a rich, deep thought. Btw, not OP.
@bv You’re not fooling anyone OP.
You might benefit from mental health counseling.
I had to google what WM means. Y’all are delusional.
Reparations for WM! That’s what Agent Orange’s EEOC calls for right. Let the WM discrimination suits begin! Descendants of slaves, got nothing for you. The centuries of compounded oppression and social injustice affecting generations still today— well that just didn’t happen. Reparations for WM!!!!
Keep in mind, WM in the c-suite calling the shots.
It's not just WM, pretty much anyone over 45
@b2, seems you have an all-knowing complex…if YOU didn’t witness, can’t be fact. Thank god world does not evolve around your limited personal knowledge and experience. Don’t give a shyte what you think.
@b0 I'll take "things that never happened" for 500 Alex.
Definitely. When i was a manager sitting in rank meetings the downward pressure on oldwr WMs was insane. A few years later I went from outstanding to pip. Except for a very few high po types, older WMs are sc--wed. Sp much for loyalty.
@op… my outwardly racist manager pipped ALL browns in team from the admin to exec. I’m sure you’d say it was deserved because brownies are inferior. Does that make you feel better now?
54yo WM, less than15 years with company so not NRE and just got a CL bump so I don’t think EVERY WM over 48 is accurate.
Yes. They want to fire everyone who is 40 years old plus.
Let me share my experiences. First, whole heartedly agree HR doesn't walk the talk for the employees, they take their marching orders from on high and managers and supervisors are typically as spineless for fear of road-bumping their career. ~ 2020 - I met personally after calling out questionable behavior - no response. 2025 - I advised HR about a full 180 degree "about face" from my manager between the 1st and 2nd pre-assessment meeting (and who claimed to be "my biggest advocate". HR did nothing, again not even a response. Back in the early mid 90s, in a Supervisory Training Clas, they showed the parabolic Salary/CL level over time/age. Nothing has changed in 30+ years, and the higher ups have no desire to change the system that got them to where they are. WAEM - why bother if you feel your only on the team 1 season at a time - huge waste of resources, but facilitating sessions looks fantastic on your PDS.
They think they have perfected the art of bogus negative feedback and PIP. They think their system operates without leaving a paper trail of truth to hide their bogus paper trail. Bring on the lawsuits and test it. Otherwise this heinous practices will continue.
@OP It is stupid people like you, that we are getting rid off. It doesn’t matter what your age is, we will get you. Sit tight!
HR is there to protect the company . Ever notice how quickly HR people leave the company? They are not here to foster talent. They are here to cut and protect company from lawsuits.
Notice people with no skills in certain areas get elevated to positions they have little to no qualifications for. Shady as he-l the way they we-ponized performance assessment. Horrible place to work with a lot of back stabbing and power grabs. Be on your guard.
