@1erp+1kgsziYM So, buckling under the pressure of National Security, Avaya had no choice in acquiring Nortel networking... Like, Nortel networking IP was so secure from the Chinese! https://siliconangle.com/2012/02/15/nortel-hacked-for-10-years-failed-to-inform-buyers/
One can only hope Avaya were compensated for their losses when they sold off Nortel networking at fire sale prices ($100m) to Extreme during last Ch11 restructuring!
"when Avaya foolishly purchased Nortel's data networking business"
This is the original sin what had to be swallowed by TPG and Silverlake oligarchs for the sake of the empire to avoid Chinese hands on valuable patents and foreign access to US government networks built on Nortel techs.
Worked for Avaya during decades of denial, where they desparately tried to defend the base from Msft before finally recognising they needed to embrace and provide Avaya integration! Quite why Avaya continue to waste time/money on Spaces trying to compete against Ms Teams beggars belief!! Similar attitude (and dire outcome) when Avaya foolishly purchased Nortel's data networking business, then tried to defend against Cisco (having already tried/failed selling data networking with Cajun and Extreme in previous decades). They never fail fast and learn...
No you really don’t get it. MSFT has decimated the PBX industry because none of the vendors could extract themselves from selling freekin handsets. 60% of revenue came from hardware and when a more intuitive set of applications for collaboration in the office came along all PBX vendors were left with redundant products. Even when Avaya did come up with an innovative collab tool they spent years and wasted $M working out how they could sell a piece of hardware with it.
no buyout- the opposite will be bankruptcy announcement
The board of directors actually will benefit by going to chapter 11
if you work for avaya, start looking for a better employer- this company doesn't look after shareholders/investors and certainly isn't looking after employees either
Alan was suppose to save the company but it appears there is no saving
search Twitter for $AVYA if you don't believe this post
"MSFT is a key reason why Avaya is in deep trouble". OMFG you really dont get it do you. I bet you must be one of the sales guys laid off who cold not sell a cloud deal, or do you drive round with a screwdriver and wire in NY?
Probably Ringcentral will just takeover Avaya -best for both ! Anyways a 2nd BK is really bad for us, will just ki-l avaya
Sorry to burst the bubble but what has Avaya to offer MSFT? The 90K Avaya customers (if they really exist) are already MSFT customers. The 100M users (that are really 30M) users are also already Teams users. MSFT is a key reason why Avaya is in deep trouble. MSFT doesn't need to buy Avaya's customer base, it has taken it already.
Not sure from where this is coming from! For last few years we always here about msft and other interested ! But never went through ! Will be good if it happens
