Thread regarding M&T Bank Corp. layoffs

I have almost always received Achieving High on my performance review (worked at the Bank for 5 years) and I'm in my final interviews for a few other companies. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. They're just accelerating an already serious brain-drain issue.

I'm going to lie in my exit interview so I have a good reference but man I could give them such a deep analysis of what's going on in Tech. As an undisputable example: Some local tech companies I've interviewed at said they were hesitant to interview me because I had M&T on my resume and those candidates historically were so bad they usually filter them out.

They are thinning the herd! They want people to leave to avoid layoffs and that equates to severances, unemployment and bad press. This will cause people to leave or worse silently quit. Deals made with the city of Buffalo have our mid-level and operation seniors forced to comply with the RTO to generate revenue for the city which includes lease agreements and presence of money spending workers. Lunch, parking, gas etc to spend in the city and not allowing the grandiose Seneca one tower to be a ghost town yet again.

Interesting that announcement was made after the employee engagement survey. Every other time they have added a few more days onto the deadline to complete the survey. Not this time. Hummm! They only have it 4 days not all so if something happens we already have a home office to benefit them. I would ask to just work in office all the time but I live to far away and don't want to waste that much time 4 days never the less 5. This totally socks but they don't give a sh** about us, only them.

The issue with M&T is that all the high performers can find new jobs and have and all the dummies and people who don't want to do much are left. I was there for like 6 months and found out how incompetent and bad so many people are at their jobs. It was truly amazing to see how unsuited for their role people were. The titles were complete garbage and the truly competent people (very few) that stayed just did it cause they want to do minimal effort and chill. That company is completely fu---d. It's what happens when you have financial di-kheads trying to run a tech company. Senior leadership was completely incompetent. Like, embarrassingly incompetent.

Funny how we just had our best and most profitable year (based on all of our work and productivity) and yet we're being told we have to do it in the office. Make it make sense.

Employees definitely are mad but I’m not sure they will care. Some say it’s to boost businesses around the office. Everyone should boycott. Don’t spend any money in or around the office!
