Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Worrying

I’m curious if anyone else has thoughts or concerns about the recent update regarding Year End conversations.

Leadership just communicated that YE discussions are being pushed back to the first week of March.

I know delays like this can happen for a variety of reasons, but the timing and the shift to a single conversation feel unusual.

Is anyone else reading into this? Do you think this signals anything bigger, like restructuring or broader cost-control measures, or is this simply a logistical change?

Would love to hear your perspective and whether other teams are experiencing the same thing.

@pk Funny how these individuals are down voting. The poster child for “C’s get degrees” is Slug Fatterson outta the West.

Looks like another useless “promotion“ to keep someone employed for the time being. Just because there’s one individual with a specific title in the group, they see fit to put them over others that have totally different job functions. And we wonder why this place failed miserably and continues. Can’t wait for the transaction to complete and Zayo sees through these “leaders.” Starting with Operations.

@v8 Hilarious! Most of these people leaders are just a bump on a log, fly on the wall… Well flies on the wall get swatted and logs get flushed!!

@pf HAHAHA you must have struck a nerve with said individual. I think I know who you’re referring to. That individual thinks that micromanaging is what management should do. Real managers listen to what their team has to say since they are the ones actually doing the real work that keeps the company moving. Nothing worse than a manager who thinks they’re the smartest person in the room. Good ol ‘ widget counting, spreadsheet wranglers. EVERYTHING works on paper…

@pg oh must drink the purple look-aid. People can’t have a 5 min conversation? Come on they moved it so you don’t have to have the conversation with people you know are getting axed before the payout. This way they won’t know what they were going to get. Instead they will get some “bonus payout” which they will tell them is what they would have received.

Here’s another oldie but goodie…Even a broken clock is right twice a day! That rings so true for so many “people leaders” here at Clown Castle.

@pf I would have gone with “C’s get degrees” lol. Not everyone with a degree is smart. Gotta admit, even those “degrees” look nice hanging on the wall.

AIP payout is still the same date. Due date to submit the performance convo is just been moved to the day before we see our AIP pay stubs. Just further solidifying that these conversations are meaningless. Regardless of what you input, your AIP amounts and potential merit increase has already been determined long before. They moved the due date because so many teams couldn’t complete by 1/30 due to working on the transaction, so they pushed the meaningless due date.

@hd I heard that individual has some engineering degree, which explains the complete clown show that is under that person. As the old engineering adage goes “ everything works on paper.”

@eg I heard that as well. All these promotions that have occurred on the operations side is just the district manager trying to insulate their self from being laid off. Inept Management 101, promote yes people then lay them off when cuts need to be made. Judging from the call with Zayo leadership, alot of these “managers” are not going to fit in with how Zayo runs the business.

They are timing it with the next RIF a the sale so they can’t short change people but squeeze all the life out of them holding the carrot before they do because they have to to make the sale happen. Then puff sorry you are a low performer or bye bye so sad no money for you, I bet that is in an internal memo somewhere.

They literally had it on a slide about only people employees after March 3rd get a bonus. Probably cut people before then then add some money to the survivors but pocket most of it.

More heads gonna roll…no need to give performance reviews to people getting laid off. Another round is coming. I heard network operations folk are being tasked with work that doesn’t pertain to them and getting micromanaged to boot.

I think people are looking for the boogey man where he doesn’t exist. IC is still being paid on the same day. That hasn’t changed. Only the date your conversations have to be complete has changed.

I figured they wouldn’t be d-mb enough to sc--w over network it seems like they are. This 100% has to do with the sale and not paying bonuses. My guess is the close before comp, then tell network Zayo or eqt will pay out your comp. Win win eqt and Zayo get you for another year with more deferred comp. Those companies can blame crown emt so they look good. Actually genius of them and foolish for us to believe them.

My opinion is they thought thought the fiber sale was going to close sooner so they were trying to get the compensation adjustment in earlier. However its not happening till after the normal cycle e.g March

I’m not sure if there’s anything behind it but it makes sense. Never made sense to have two conversations. Your performance conversations should have always been tied to your compensation conversation. Butttttttttttt there probably something behind it.
