How has the transition been? Are you taking time off? Have you already found a new role?

I'm sleeping deeply for the first time in more than a decade. Have had several opportunities come my way but honestly I'm not ready to jump into anything yet. I almost feel like I'm trying to heal up from an abusive relationship and need some time to get my head back on straight before jumping into the next chapter of my life.
@d8
if this is your new job, I would give it your name. how otherwise you can pass it on? or a fake name. create your BRAND name.
Been gone just over 2 years. Could not be happier. It is truly a toxic place to work. If you are unhappy, leave. You'll be glad you did.
they are being opposite of mediocre identifying low performers every six months to a year one out of six in each group and put them on PIP even if everyone is mediocre
@d8 the best form of payback against IBM is to tell your friends not to buy IBM products or services whether Security, AI or Quantum. IBM sells garbage under Alvind and his Indian cronies, so why waste time and money when there are better products out in the marketplace from better companies ? At some point the mainframe will fall too and then you'll see how the company goes to the wall with nothing to save it, while the crooked executives continue to play musical chairs on the IBM Titanic. Revenge is a dish best served cold to these evildoers.
@d8, I agree with your assessment. IBM is the image of it employees. Mediocre people produce mediocre products. Mediocre leaders force mediocrity on lower ranks employees. IBM at the top is run by a cabal of thieves.
My renewed purpose is to let everyone know what kind of garbage company IBM is now. I may not have an IBM pension anymore but I did manage to save a lot in my 401(k); it turns out I no longer need to work. This is my new job and it's fulfilling. Revenge is fulfilling. My network is vast and I'm letting everyone know.
I let them know about the severance package and how they stole my pension. I let them know how they stole my retiree medical benefits. I let them know how they stole thousands upon thousands of American jobs and sent them all to India. I let them know about how bad our technology is. I let them know about how IBM uses OKR's to lie about success when in fact, they usually mean failure.
I have a vast network and I plan on making this my full-time job. If IBM had played nice with people like me, I would be singing their praises instead of telling the truth about how the company has declined into a toxic waste dump under Arvind.
What comes around goes around, motherf----rs.
I am staying off LinkedIn. That place is a sewer. Shady recruiters promising 6 figure jobs but want thousands of dollars up front. Then there are posts by people who have been laid off for a year or more begging for any job. I do not fault them at all they feel cheated by a broken system of ghosting by recruiters, fake job postings and other factors.
I am looking forward for my vacation next week and this time without a laptop and my manager calling me on vacation. Wherever I go next. That Shiite ain't happening
Took four months off last summer, walked into a great role where people are respectful and act with empathy. 22%+ pension and 12%+ bonus. Not bad at all! Once I left I never looked back (24 years of my life). There’s plenty of life outside IBM… almost all of it, in fact!
Doing surprisingly well. Two weeks after the layoff, I was contacted by a major player in the AI space proposing a position. I am considering it, no rush. The severance package should is helping to wait and see.
Pretending you or your work matters takes years off your life. Anyone at ibm can find a role where you are valued. You’ll be happier after the ptsd subsides. Don’t let the nickel be the only deciding factor.
I saw some ibm video snips recently where the ibmers were at conferences presenting strategy with their fake excitement acting for job security purposes. It’s all a nervous act. Never realized while there how cringe and sad it is. Culty really.
Doing great. No worrying about useless Standups, or Jira boards, or taking useless calls. I still talk to a few people there and they are stressed out. The increased workload and threat of another RA and the minuscule GDP they will get if any. All while Alvind, Krabanaugh, Joanne Wrong and the rest feed like p1gs out of the trough
