Curious that it doesn’t seem every team in each state got added. Have a friend doing the same job and their team wasn’t on the call. Makes me feel like some of us are pre-selected and this was the warning call. Wish they just didn’t say anything because now the anxiety is going to be ever present until we hear more
Cutting back on house calls visits should be concerned to all optum employees. House calls is how they make money. I’m sure there will be layoffs. This meeting was a way to get people to leave without paying severance.
@j7 There won't be a time that layoffs aren't coming.
@j7 Hard to know. Sounds like they are waiting for contracts to settle.
I know most vendors were let go last year. So that at least supports that there isn't a lot of extra work to support vendor visits.
@j6 so does it sound like layoffs are coming anyways ?
A nothing meeting with a casual home office setting from leadership.
No big announcements. BUT a bit ominous— 4 million visits completed last year. 2026 we are budgeted for around 2 million visits.
So all the stress and worrying for no reason?? Ugh
@j2 Nothing at this time. Reference was made to the potential drop in the number of visits, but nothing concrete. Why even schedule it at this time….
Est housecalls keep us posted
Yes it’s reminder to scan/badge in, sit at your chair all day but bathroom and lunch breaks are an exception. Microsoft Teams will provide daily productivity scores to your leaders and AI will be your new manager. Do as told. Physical attendance will be taken by the BSL. All external cellular service will be blocked to help you focus and all internet traffic have been monitored. Those who surf too much on the internet will be charged out of payroll. Don’t forget to badge out and submit timesheet weekly after you send Bravos to HR and your leaders for the wonderful career boat we all ended up together gnawing each other for the dwindling cap and opex. Don’t forget about the free coffee when surveys come out.
@OP prayers for the House Calls department tomorrow. Things sound pretty ominous across the board. The big drop in membership will mean less people are needed. No one should assume their role is so essential that a majority - or even any - of a given department are “safe”. There are departments that were reduced by 75%+ during quarter four. Optus clearly does not plan to continue the same business model.
@fe No additional updates other than being withdrawn from mandatory 2026 learning modules.
hard to focus on work when all I can think about is wondering if I’m being laid off tomorrow morning
No updates on this that I have heard or seen today
any further updates today?
@OP Yes, team in West Coast received notice for a morning HouseCalls business meeting update on Jan 8. Unclear what it is about.
@bc seems like some west coast and east cost teams have both gotten it, but east coast meeting will be first due to est
15 minute "Business updates" is never a good email to receive.
@bb I am in East Coast. Did you get it individually or was it a mass invite? Not necessarily panicking as it seems quite a few people received same invite.
Yeah, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the only 15 min meeting I've ever been invited to was a notification. I was laid off a few years ago (from Optum), but ended up taking an offer in another area a week later, so I never actually left. I was also very confused by the meeting invite, but that's how they do it here unfortunately.
Has anyone heard anything? Can’t think of what else a 15 minute meeting would be for..
@aw well my friend in Texas did get the invite later this afternoon, meeting is at 8am
What time is meeting
Did not get it.
@av a friend in Texas who does house calls did not get that invite so must be particular markets
They sent it to 4K providers across the country so I doubt it is a layoff at that caliber
I received a 'business update' email and was laid off 10 seconds into the meeting. It's a standard subject line managers are told to use. Sorry. Hope it's not the case for you.
Also received meeting invite but don’t know anything about it. Worried its layoffs
