Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

@cn According to an anonmyous but reliable source, 50-75 stores are to be remodeled. These are known as NN75, which added to R125 becomes F200. Dayton Mall has been added to the NN75 and after being taken off the closure list, it is expected to undergo a remodel. The Cutler Bay Florida store and the Pearland Texas store are expected to remodel.

@b9 After these 42 closures (including furniture galleries which I have excluded from my list), 42 more will close in early 2027 as well.
These closures are only the confirmed closures, excluding Dayton Mall which I forgot to remove, and there will be some more added.
I also wouldn't be surprised if some were pushed back to 2027.

This list is from a source mostly accurate, there may be a few exceptions such as the Bellevue location which I have an asterisk on.

So, there will be 50 stores remodeled in addition to these 125 Reimagine Macy's stores. It has not been disclosed yet, as their focus is on the closures.

Macy's Dayton Mall is not closing, it is froma previous list, apologies.

What are the stores being remodeled?

@b9 The list makes sense. All of these stores are in poor performing malls or dying malls. The stated criteria previously was for a go forward( 350 door) was the store needed to be in an "A" or "B" grade mall with potential to grow. None of these stores meet that criteria. The one exception would be Oglethorpe Mall( good mall but Belk and Dillard's own the Savannah Market. Macy's has given up on completing with Belk and Dillard's in this type of market). Dayton Mall is the other one that seems to have reprieve for now. However, Macy's notorious for changing the rules midway through executing a strategy. Everyone will know if two weeks.

This list is ridiculous. There will be no more than 15 stores closed, probably more like 12. You don’t know what you are talking about.

It will be announced before Jan 8th, not gonna do it during inventory, it will be right before like last year!

@a9 Macy's said it will close the Dayton store earlier this year, and then as of Dec 18, they said it wouldn't be closing and it would be taken off the list and numerous employees have told my source anonymously that it was profitable and did well this holiday season. The wild card is whether it may be pushed to the 42 stores in January 2027. I wouldn't be surprised about a clearance center opening in a closing location that is pushed to 2027 as well.

@OP There are no surprises on this list. Most of these have been identified as future closures for a number of years.
The wild card is will Macy's try to develop a clearance store strategy? Also, if there is no real estate deal for the store finalized, then why close if the store is profitable.
Macy's never ever completes a long term strategy.
