I don’t know if I can handle this anymore. The closer to the new year the more stress I’m under. I have applied for jobs and haven’t even got a look at.
The EAP isn’t helping…maybe it’s best to just end it

@OP There is always sunshine after rain. You are not alone and you will get through this.
@e8 thank you for your meaningful response. In times like these, we need to lift each other up. Happy new year!
If this poster was real, would the blowback affect the company? Would there be a reckoning from this stupid decision?
Everyone that I’ve seen get laid off by Imperial over the years has gone on to find a good job somewhere else. In many cases, they found better job. Even the ones who were laid off for performance issues.
You WILL find another job eventually, you may not even need to, since so many people are resigning.
This is likely a troll post, but don’t forget to use up all your mental health benefits before you blow up the popsicle stand
I bet we will start seeing a lot of mental health emails from our managers in the new year.
Because they care
Yeah, I hear you. Winter break really reminds me how much my mood improves when I’m away from work. Thinking about going back in less than a week gave me that sinking feeling. But checking out isn’t the answer - don’t give your life to this company or let them take that from you. Find another purpose.
NEVER give up on yourself.
You will get through this, just persevere, think about and focus on what you can DO to make your future good for yourself.
This requires ACTION on your part.
Positive action.
Set a daily to-do list, which includes not just business/work-related tasks (sending out 10 resumes a day, for example) but also things you've been meaning to get around to doing, but haven't...such as: decluttering a storage area or e-files, spending more time outdoors, learning something new (physically or online via YT vids.) Every small victory adds up to you feeling better about yourself, because instead of wallowing in self-pity or defeat, you've CHOSEN to actively do things to better your situation every day! Might sound corny, but it works. You'll be building positive personal momentum.
In your job search, try something DIFFERENT, such as temp. or contract work, while you keep striving to get another F/T permanent job. New "temporary" job contacts/situations can lead quickly to something more solid and better...but you never know until you TRY!
Life is precious, so don't squander yours.
Something really good could be there for you just around the corner...but you have to do the footwork and not give up...actively SEEK, in order to FIND!
If you check out, you miss it all...and also, you won't be racking up any "good karma" points for your soul in the process. Don't do that to yourself.
When you feel like giving up, that's the time to muster up MORE from your soul, to propel yourself forward in THIS life. You are not meant to give up. So don't. Keep going, find new ways to get through whatever life throws at you. NEVER give up.
It’s the slowest time of year to be looking for work so don’t let that bother you if you’re getting no bites. You could also pull the stress card to get some time away from work. I’ve seen that done a lot especially while at Kearl. There may not be a lot of support during this time, but maybe take solice in knowing you’re not alone in this whole cluster fak
Be patient and open to start new anywhere else. It'll come. IOL isn't the end all be all.
Changing benefits in 2026 by reducing paramedical services and allocating $3K to mental health is a bloody joke. With layoffs happening in 2026 and 2027, Imperial intentionally put this in place so employees can deal with intense mental health issues that the company itself is creating
Ok, step back a bit here. I wouldn't confide in Company's EAP. you're definitely doing the right thing here applying to other jobs. It sounds to me like you might need a month or two off work before starting a new one. Do you have more vacation to take?
I expect any note of your stress or problems to management will likely put you on a layoff list. they're ruthless.
