If the funds were used for the Ascension Cancer Camp, then Ascension would be going to great lengths to recoup its losses. Even view their employees as liabilities. LOL
Gilbert worked for Ascension Sacred Heart for nearly 30 years. An arrest report says the company's director of security reported the case to Pensacola Police back in August.
According to the report, Gilbert should have turned in his Sam's Club company card over 10 years ago when the company switched to its Ascension P-card program.
Investigators say the card accrued over $812,000 in expenses since 2012 -- most of which was incurred in the last three years.
Camp Bluebird's website still listed Gilbert as the director as of Tuesday morning. But as of Tuesday afternoon, the front page only reads "website disabled for maintenance" as its being updated.

You’ll be surprised to know that this is a very small number compared to millions. Wait for the upcoming release
So, let me get this straight. It took Ascension several YEARS to detect a theft of this magnitude? If this is an example of how Ascension financial controls aren't working, one wonders what else might be going on within the system.
"The report states the Sam's Club corporate credit card was used prior to the implementation of the Ascension P-card program, which replaced the Sam's Club corporate credit card."
"According to the report, after the Ascension P-card program was launched around 2011, the Sam's Club corporate card should have been turned in and no longer used. However, Gilbert's card continued to be used from 2012 through 2022 to include 562 vouchers for a total cost of $812,260."
"The report states the majority of the charges occurred from 2019-22, totaling $636,000."
"According to the report, Ascension Sacred Heart top officials discovered the fraudulent activity in March. Emails between the officials state charges from Sam's Club showed purchases of "dog food, meat, gift cards, etc."
For crying out loud, bring back the nuns!
