George Buckley once said no consultants, what am I paying 3M employees for if we need to use consultants.
Tireman, what value do you bring if all you do is use consultants?

Tireman should be renamed to FIRE-MAN (and a few women).
I think Tireman should change his nickname to Retireman
LOL
Overall, I thought Desi was a decent guy, but he too spent MILLIONS of shareholder dollars having someone determine the name for Imation and build a logo. That was in 1996. One has to wonder how much tireman is involved since he loves the jet set life style and can fly with more consultants 1st class to Davos and other expensive places.
Hey tireman, how much have you spent on corporate travel so far this year?
Yes they even hired consulting company to find name for Spin co. Seriously people use any name. As long as it is not adopting 3M practices, it will succeed. Why paying consulting companies while laying off your own people?
I almost fell off my chair when they posted these case studies in 3M Go.
How many employees in 3M are of such cases?
Anyone read the wyw employees who have disabilities, this is why we work from home, so you do fall asleep at meetings or fall asleep at the water machine or fall asleep when driving into work, it all makes sense now, call me old fashioned or Rupert
if what Tireman could do is to engage consultants to help him, then why not 3M just hire the consultant directly and bypass Tireman. it can help to save 3M millions of dollars instead of paying Tireman
hope all the unionized employees take note of this and demand a fair pay raise compared against inflation, Wages and incomes continue to stagnate as working Americans struggle to maintain living standards, especially those with children. If they can spend millions on consultants then they can spend millions on pay increase for the production workers who have grafted through the pandemic and worked with low morale the last four years
Buckley was the one 3M CEO this century I had full respect for and even more so today.
Inge talked a good story but blew billions buying back stock over 200 dollars and then lied through his teeth saying he wasn't borrowing money to buyback stock.
Mike is a good guy in reputation but an empty suit in bldg 220, surrounded by more suits and even a GE reject (monish) and Starbucks reject (tireman).
Mcnerney was the worst for what he did to set this company on the crash course into oblivion.
If Buckley had been able to get his way with the board and refocus this company on innovation and long term growth vs. The destructive quarterly earnings focus of mcnerney he might have redirected 3M back on track.
Hey tireman, since we know you read every post here, why are the McKinsey rejects from Kearney smarter than the 3M talent? Or is it you have no clue how to manage something this complicated and are afraid to ask employees for their ideas?
