Some are in 'vacation mode' because they hope that they will be laid off, and some are so worried about whether they will be laid off that they do not manage to do even the bare minimum. I believe productivity in general has never been lower than it is now?

With Work Your Way, productivity is never going to improve. Imagine people resting from the comfort of their home. And if there are no scheduled meeting they can afford to take afternoon nap. How great is 3M!!
We keep being told to worry with no announcement. Sure am not doing anything until I know if I have a job at the end of the day...
I know quite a few who are admitting they are sitting at home , not working, and collecting a paycheck .
I can’t speak for the entire company but in Decatur management and supervision are more worried about rolling out their next project for raises and promotions.
No one has a clue what’s going on at the operational level and it’s sad.
Management and HR has in their heads that they can take anyone off the street and have them running a chemical reactor in a few weeks.
No prerequisites anymore, no testing, no experience. We honestly have people who their only experience in chemical manufacturing is making sandwiches at subway.(Not a joke)
The moral is at an all time low.
The operators who actually know their job and go above and beyond have became frustrated and burnt out seeing unqualified/lazy people allowed to just sit around and literally do nothing an entire 12 hour shift and no one says a word. On top of that the same people are pushed through certifications even though they do not have a clue what is going on.
To compound the issue once the obvious errors and mistakes are made instead of addressing the issue management throws the problem in the manufacturing engineers laps to rewrite procedures constantly for people that never bothered to read them in the first place.
Not to mention WYW had deteriorated the productivity as well.... but heck....who cares
