It feels like the first time
I was let go yesterday and worked there 15+ years. Mixed emotions but mainly sad that’s it over and yet relieved that it is, if that makes any sense.
Same boat sorta. Mixed feelings, shock, anger, mistrust. Ever since I was hired on about 18 months ago layoffs have been mentioned every few months. Living in constant fear of them was awful. Upper management laughed and said “no way, I don’t see it happening” then our team got decimated. Feels like being lied to and taken advantage of. Just gotta process it and find a more stable situation.
First time?
I feel okay. Not shock or sadness. I know there is something better out there.
I've been working 2 jobs for months I knew this was coming. When my VPs and supervisors were replaced the writing was on the wall. The stupid thing is they were hiring and backfilling up till last month. That is plain stupid.
I've found that layoffs usually lead to better situations than you would have been had you been in control. They may feel terrible, but in the long haul they are probably for the best.
I was cut this morning, if anything I feel relief and excitement. I was probably going to leave anyway, and better to have a severance even if I give up control of the timing.
Being laid off causes grief. You might feel nothing, then feelings might come flooding in, and everything in between. Sure, you will move forward...just give yourself the time and space to grieve. I've been laid off three times, once from NetApp (somehow not this time). Sending you time and space.
Feel relieved that you can move on. There are always greener pastures.
Find some nature, go for a walk to process it. The sun will rise tomorrow and you will move forward. I've been there. Good luck to you.
You are in shock dude!
