Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Morale at rock bottom

The morale for the EO manufacturing team is at rock bottom now. Everyone is worried about whether they are part of the 2,500 to be laid off. How are the leaders going to motivate their employees to improve and contribute to growth?

I disagree with this thread.

Morale is going to get much much worse in 2023.

The year is off to a disastrous start.

Nothing will change for better till the Board changes and that’s not happening.

You must have a picture taken with MR. that’s priceless. You can auction it off in future for standing beside a legend.

That visit was your Xmas bonus. A visit from MR is definitely worth more than £250

Plan B is about having a security blanket, most likely it’s not going to be better financially than your unskilled 3M role.
Clearer some replies are from people who have buried their heads in the sand, forever thinking the pay checks will keep coming in, even though they see the incompetence day in day out

You can have a plan b but for a lot of manufacturing roles it might be a significant pay and benefits cut. No one really wants to work for 3M but it provides well st some plant locations. When Plan B is working harder for less pay at the competition it isn't really something you are jumping at...

The only people worried about lay offs are those who have buried their heads in the sand. Anyone would half a brain would have had a Plan B.
If you can’t see this then your as stupid as the Plant Management teams

Don't forget MR awarded 250 pts to everyone to boost up their morale. Remember?

the best thing you can do if laid off is to spend whatever severance you have on some courses on doing something you want and like to do, as the saying goes you never work a day in your life doing something you love and want to do, working in a factory is pathetic and only pay the bills and doing 12 hour shifts 4 or 5 days a week you hardly see your wife and kids and then at the weekend you spend it drinking or arguing because you are too tired to enjoy the minutes with family when you want to, morale is the same as its been the last 7 years as it cant get lower than it was, people just get more depressed and stressed easier as the absolute tubes than manage the Titanic, keep walking out with millions of dollars every year

Having multiple income streams is great and all but young families are the most at risk. Busy all the time and worrying about losing benefits does not put me in the state of mind to perform, especially when you perform amazingly and get a 2... 3M has become a complete clown show.

Not everyone is worried, some want to be part of the 2500.
Totally agree with the multiple sources of income comment. Being at a 3M manufacturing plant and seeing first hand how poorly they are managed, you’re always going to live with the threat of lay offs. Most people bury their heads in the sand and rather than invest or save they just choose to ignore.
Well this time it’s happening and you won’t be able to ignore

Always have multiple sources of income, do not share it with any corporation, stop swallowing media and corporate nonsense and you will be ready for any layoffs

Can anyone post here steps we need to take after being laid off. I’m not asking about obvious things like find a new job. More like apply for unemployment, medical coverage options for family, timelines, etc.
