Thread regarding 3M layoffs

I would be so embarrassed!

If I were in the leadership of a company, I would be embarrassed because I would consider it my personal failure that a large number of people here wants to be laid off despite the fact that landing a decent job now will not be easy.

If any of the COC had shame, they would have already quit or retired. Their continued presence is proof that they are all completely shameless.

Roman was the wrong person for the job. Inge and the board made a bad choice. I nearly every appearance he looks like a deer in the headlights. He has neither the brains to fix the problems or the charisma to make people think he can.

Pete really ought to know he is in over his head by now. Going from a coffee shop chain and a tire distributor to one of the most complex global manufacturing operations on the planet is just too far. I honestly think he didn't know what he was getting into when he took the job.

Monish is just looking to skim a little of the top as 3M sinks. He has the next line on his resume and honestly doesn't care what happens to 3M after he leaves.

Tireman quote of the month

" I can't promise the year ahead will be easy, but I can promise we will be open and direct in our communications with you and treat everyone with respect"

So much for a high paying executive can do

Safety always would mean you stay in your pajamas and never leave your home. Oops, that's called Work No Way. I guess they got that covered. My bad.

The only noticeable initiative Tireman has rolled out so far is SAFETY ALWAYS program. That's all MR hired him for.

Tireman must be fuming to have this nickname. Shows that employees do not respect him at all.

For the record, this isn't the 1st time 3M has paid for a 3rd party to monitor and post on websites. Back in the early 2000s when people regularly posted on yahoo message boards, McNerney hated dissent to the point he complained about people questioning his strategy, layoffs, forced ranking, six sigma MBB for only the golden children, etc.

You'd see some bu-t kissers posting rebuttals often. I'm surprised MR and tireman haven't demanded this from the 3rd party.

Hey tireman, are you already on scotch #3 reading our posts?

Hey Tireman, why do you need consultants with your 7-figure comp package and all of your great experience at Starbucks and Tirehub?

Forgot to mention how much he blasts off to the moon when people ask the question about why 3M is paying for consultants like Kearney when 3M "leaders" can just ask people themselves and save the consultant costs.

I guess a few production and logistics folks have been glib and somewhat evasive when Kearney people show up asking questions about how work is done. Tireman has made some statements like "it has been reported to me that blah blah blah. You will refrain from blah blah blah"

Never mind that Kearney advertises its consulting services as "cost savings" and "workforce efficiency " (i.e. layoffs)

Some comments that set off The Tireman.

  1. Repeated reference to his Starbucks experience. Early on, he was known for starting his biting commentary at the production people with "at Starbucks, I blah blah blah" now he bristles if people even bring up that name. I guess he's realized 3Mers are not impressed by Starbucks experience.
  1. His comment about depreciation being the only true fixed cost. A hapless production boss brought up the saying in such a way as this "as we all know, depreciation is the only true fixed cost." Wee Pete retorted "where did you hear that!" As if he suspected the production guy read it here.
  1. Any mention of A3M and EOs past support for the project. Even innocent questions about what's post A3M set him off like a bottlerocket on the 4th of July.

Others, feel free to share. I'm pretty certain he spends his evening hours having some scotch and fuming what he reads here :>)

That's hilarious. What comments has he specifically made reference to? Any rebuttal to anything posted here?

It's been confirmed as best as possible that 3M has contracted with a 3rd party to monitor and, if possible, counteract the information and commentary shared on this website and others. This is the one, though, that the big bosses despise the most, so keep on sharing info and disgust to your heart's content.

Tireman in particular is angry with this website. He has been the bu-t of criticism and even parody. He tells his inner circle how much he'd love to fire people posting here. He is disgusted with his nickname too. His commentary in employee "listening" sessions have included references to comments made here without mentioning the website.

The rumor I read here is that the company has a team trying to combat remarks online like sites like this ... has that been verified?

I think Roman and his team are well beyond desensitized to the human side and any embarrassment. The embarrassment should come from how bad he is at his job.
