WFH

Anyone hear more on the fully remote WFH option, whether it’ll be company wide and how much of a pay cut those opting for it will have to take?

WFH is so 2022. Enjoy the balanced schedule we have now and hope it continues for the long term.

Oxy needs to be a trailblazer for wfh not a follower of others in the same industry. Brain drain has already caused many issues because of talent not staying or new talent even being interested.

@rytr+1kT7fAsF I don't think any of the companies you mention do full-time WFH. Is that right? Do they even do the hybrid schedule like Oxy? I did see where Exxon is doing hot desking now.

Look at what Exxon, Chevron, Shell, and ConocoPhillips are doing with WFH. That should also be what Oxy does.

Wfh without any social days in office stipulations positions are abundant now! Oxy needs to also offer wfh without any stipulations if your position can be done fully from home. If your position can't be done fully from home then work hybrid as needed. It’s very likely that your personality matches your job. So regardless if your job requires a bit of hybrid or can be strictly wfh no stipulations of manditory social days in office should be used. If so your just forcing people to go against the grain of what makes their job productive and that is what it is all about right? PRODUCING? WHY IS THAT SO HARD FOR OXY TO UNDERSTAND?

Heard it was probably not going to happen. Hopefully they will tell us one way or another so we can move on, and maybe we can keep our current arrangement for Monday and Friday at home. Most I have talked to are very happy with that schedule as is. If the current schedule had of been offered pre-Covid I bet many would have thought they had won the lottery. The WFH full-time would be nice, but so would many other perks in life. I doubt anyone would resign over not having WFH full-time, and they can always look for that at another company. I learned a long time ago to never think you can't be replaced. Oxy is bigger than any one employee. How about those new Astros uniforms with the Oxy label on the arms!!

That is because these people assign no value to actual human contact. They should be referred to a psychiatrist or a psychologist to work through their problems. Through insurance the company pays for those professional services if you get them pre-certified.

Why are so many of you against having to come in to work to do the job you’re paid to do? Unbelievable.

I’m satisfied with BWP. WFH isn’t healthy for teamwork.

But did the company really perform well or was it just that oil prices were really high this last year?

What does it matter if people work from home if their department allows it and they actually work. In my case WFH will help me work a few more years before retiring. It really needs to be person by person within the departments that allow it. There should be something extra for those that come in as well. Thing is we could of never had these conversations unless the whole company performed well for the two years we worked from home. I applaud Oxy for allowing it.

What a bunch of spoiled losers. If you want full time WFH then the Company should really call you contractors and then they don’t pay benefits and you get stuck with the full payroll tax. Is that what you want? Really? I would rather be an employee and get medical, 401k, bonus, LTI, an office to go to. The list goes on and on.

Even if the current system does work for most of us everyone should be given the option. Isolating this program to only one department doesn’t seem fair. I’d like to save gas money, wear and tear on my vehicle and stress levels from traffic. What happened to inclusion?! lol

I know 167 lives from the North Sea that Oxy is proud of not having to pay for any more.

Best company ever, apparently.

Big pay cut and no W2 to worry about.
You get to do housework five days of the week and those terrible office people that you shy away from won’t get in your way.

I heard it will be up to the departments. If you WFH full-time you probably will lose your office in the building, and when you come in go to a place to work. I think it will be hard for the techinical BU teams to WFH all the time. Individuals might think they can do their jobs all the time from home, but that just is not the case from the techincal side like drilling, exploration, development type workers. Personally, the current balanced work week is not too much to do considering before 2020 we all worked in the office. If I am told to stick with the current schedule I am not going to lose any sleep over it. With the current schedule and every other Friday off it is really nice as is.
