Netapp hasn't had a successful new product in the past 25 years.
There are some smaller, but still successful projects at NetApp. Astra Control isn't a great reflection of other projects in the company. Most of the leaders involved in that project specifically were present with prior failures in NetApp's portfolio.
However, Astra Control deserved to die. It attempted to ride on the coattails of another moderately popular project from NetApp but somehow STILL couldn't find a way to capitalize any use cases with an existing customer base. It had a hilarious amount of time as a product to become profitable, massive amounts of engineering cost and overhead, and plenty of directionless "leaders" cashing out huge paychecks for scheduling meetings and making dashboards. Not to mention the clueless director(s) and VP who were brought in. I imagine they'll act as scapegoats by higher level management for the products failure.
As usual, it'll be the technical staff who will end up suffering at the hands of visionless leaders that continue to misjudge and mismanage products.

Don't look now but Astra Control is being shelved. EOL planning has started.
ADS work has been paused for 3-4 months. This article is old news. Focus has moved to other functionality in Astra and Astra development will continue.
This article mentions that BlueXP is a control plane for all Netapp storage, but as far as i can tell it is only for Cloud Volumes ONTAP, so maybe the article isn’t true?
Whats the difference between astra and astra data store? If one is cancelled will the other be as well?
They'll be "offered" jobs inside ONTAP (wink wink ... nudge nudge ... know what I mean?) and then laid off 3 months later.
