Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Arkansas?

"The Arkansas Times revealed Tuesday that a non-profit organization affiliated with the University of Arkansas System has been in talks about acquiring the University of Phoenix, long one of the country’s largest for-profit colleges, from that school’s current private equity owners. A spokesman for the University of Arkansas System acknowledged to the news outlet that discussions 'are ongoing.'"

Expect the new owners to be more brutal.

What is interesting about the Arkansas Times article is that they were talking about $500-$700M. Apollo Education (University of Phoenix and some smaller assets) was purchased by Apollo Global Management and Vistria Partners for $1.1 Billion in 2017. So why would UoPX go on the chopping block at such a deep discount?

Check out the Arkansas Times article and comments. Sounds like UoPX could be sold for a loss. And folks in Arkansas don't seem very keen about it.
