Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

What I don't understand about most long term associates

How did you manage to last more than a decade in this terrible company? I've only been here for a little while, but the maximum I could last is two years, because this is a sweatshop that destroys the health of its employees.

Some of us know first hand by working for this dysfunctional organization. So don’t shoot off your mouth. Get the facts before “assuming “ you think you know it all about what goes on at a Walmart.

You are absolutely correct about one thing- there’s a lot of misdirection on this site. Almost all of it comes from fired associates or someone who has an axe to grind, or someone who’s completely ignorant. There’s some union organizers, too, but most that post here are trying to sound like they know something, when I’m fact, it’s doubtful they know anything at all.

Lets hit the target, GWP did not destroy the culture. Focus, It was the bentonville crowd. There is so much misdirection in Walmart and on this site. All store closings and Layoffs begin at the corporate level. Doug isn't the smiling good old boy , think opposite of that. Its happening before your eyes.

Truth, GWP destroyed the culture and how Walmart conducts business, store in stock is horrible, departments are messy and unkept, stores are dirty and unfriendly.

It wasn't so bad until they restructured the stores two years ago. GWP/Teaming destroyed the culture that long term associate hung around for.

Unfortunately, much of that is right. There was a time when it was different. Years ago before Sam died, it was a different company. But, the big turn for the worse happened when the current generation got old enough to hold jobs. They have no work ethic and only care about themselves. It’s sad. It’s a warning of what’s to come. Take every thing you see happening now and project it into the future. We are totally hosed.

Walmart never paid much but Sam made up for that with respect for the individual. Sure you could earn a living . At the beginning of your shift you were prepared to take care of the customer and your fellow associates. Everyone was an associate of the company. That was the best memories of a work experience you could have. Now the culture has changed. 180* turn now. Its a shame and I fear that I will out live it. Walmart presents itself as good but not compared to Sam's Walmart. The hardest I've ever worked was then and it was worth it. No regrets. Now learn what you can, there is no more careers to be made now and go. Associates only care about themselves, trust no one it will get back to someone who will damage you. Good luck

If you're rich, you won't be on this site reading these comments because you're likely out of touch with reality, and don't give a sh-t anyways.

It's a centuries long grift built by capitalism. You're indoctrinated through school, so many of us think we're doing some type of fulfilling work, until you get older and realize it's just a big rat trap. If you're poor, you're a cog. If you're rich, you won't be on this site reading these comments because they're likely out of touch with reality.

Fu-k consumerism and customer service. We were meant to have our chores done in the morning so we could chill for the majority of every day and enjoy life. Not slave away in this capitalist he-l scape for 24/7 bullsh-t convenience, complication, and vulnerable computer systems fu----g our time away from us endlessly.

Yes you are correct. Long term associates have a work ethic. They come to work on time, don’t spend time on their phones while working, aren’t rude and sarcastic to customers and supervisors and are respectful of others. They also follow dress code and don’t wear clogs and hoodies and ripped tattered torn jeans and sweatpants. They can actually hold a conversation and don’t constantly spend all their work time with their faces glued to their phones. They also don’t spend oodles of their workday wandering the store not working. Oh and one more thing, they didn’t have to jump from job to job because they didn’t like being told what to do. They are hard workers who have a family to support. Nowadays these new hires work 1 day never to be seen again because they didn’t like what their supervisor told them to do. They don’t like direction and don’t want to work but expect everything handed to them for free.
Long term associates are hard workers and have a work ethic and also are dedicated employees who show up in rain, sleet and snow. They don’t constantly call in because of an ache or pain.

Don’t look at the long term associates, look at yourself. I guarantee those long term associates can read and write English. They can get to work on time. They don’t call in. They aren’t on their phones all the time. They don’t have an arrest record. They probably haven’t been fired from every job they’ve ever had. They can probably hold an intelligent conversation. They probably aren’t woke and they probably don’t steal what is not theirs. And, they probably have taken advantage of the 401k plan and are buying Walmart stock, so their financial future is looking mighty nice.

Look around they come in fit and skinny. The lifestyle of working at Walmart makes you fat. Look around all the long term employees have become fat slobs.
