No bonus for the laid off people

I'm starting to despise this company even though I used to love working here. What a terrible approach to layoffs! They obviously timed the layoffs so as not to pay bonuses to the employees.

I wonder how much they will save on those unpaid bonuses to laid off employees and whether that money will be redirected to the bonuses of VPs...

This is pure speculation and stupidity. Someone mistook a SE who posted he didn’t get a bonus and assumed no bonus was given with severance. SE’s are on a variable comp/commission plan and don’t get a bonus anyway

"Laughing here, we told you they would lay off people (massively) and do it the cheapest way possible. And yet, you did not believe us."

Who is "we"? Who is "you"? Why do you think you're in a place of authority to be believed?

Why are you even laughing and trying to take credit for something?

None of this makes any sense. This is not what normal people do.

I think it is to early to worry about a larger financial issue. With this being mostly a performance cut(with a likely larger rif coming) I see a reason why people are not getting any bonus. I know we have all come to expect them at this point but honestly, a bonus is a performance-based compensation tool and at the discretion of management.

I would not be surprised if bonuses were cut for those who survived the upcoming layoffs.

Bonuses were paid out to laid off employees last year who were laid off last week of Jan, so if they’re not doing it this time, it’s sucky. They’re changing the rules so it’s less payout for the upcoming mass layoffs post merge. So obvious!

"Prove that they won’t get bonus"

LOL WUT?

Bonus specifically says you must be an active employee on that date (15 Apr). How are people who get laid off now going to be active employees at that date?

Not nice. It shows there is a big problem brewing financially. I've seen layoffs before. Even if they happen in the middle of the financial year, they usually pro-rate bonuses and pay them. The intent of the layoff is usually to restructure the business and not destroy lives in the process. This behavior points to a bigger underlying problem.
