Layoff Speculation in 2023

Does anyone else get the feeling there will be layoffs in 2023? Hearing about Google, Microsoft and others sparks thoughts. I suppose it depends on the department.

A manager once told me that MPC is overstaffed by at least 50%, in his opinion (he never did nothing except attend worthless meetings). Since it has been almost three years since the last purge, it may be time to clean house again.

It’s likely. Lot of executive “consultants” coming into Findlay right now.

Is the audit leadership going to transition to Houston? The VP of the function works there already.

We have been short staffed at the operations level ever since the layoffs in 2020. If they let more of us go, it would be a disaster. That doesn’t mean they won’t.

Nothing wrong with landing a nice severance package and then taking your bag of tricks (skills) to another company.

Layoff, or “merger of equals” with Devon? Both companies are aligned and act very similar. It wouldn’t surprise me.

Who thinks the internal audit department is overstaffed? Any IA mgmt recommended for cost savings?

As greedy as upper management is I don’t doubt it. We are just numbers to them….but hey keep submitting efficiencies because that will save your job.
