Is engineering impacted?
Layoff already started in India today. CIBG BU.
Agreed, far to many people per account with jobs that could be done with fewer. I will never understand having a specialist AE and SE per product group along with CSMs, csses, S360 people etc all on a single account.
Whether tomorrow is the day or not, layoffs are indeed coming. With all other large tech companies performing RIF, it would be nonsense to think you are untouchable. If you are redundant, a “leader” with no direct reports, collect large sums of money to perform minimal work - you are at risk.
Having worked in a couple roles at VMware, I can say there are far too many layers of sales people. Additionally, people in DMT, revenue, billing ops, success executives (not talking desk), all perform little to no value add. Same can be said for some CSMs (holding 5 or less customers).
VMware has become bloated and it is time for some people to leave. Sorry if that stings, it’s simply the truth.
What teams are being laid off? Also, what is this sales restructuring people keep mentioning?
Yes, I have heard managers were called in a meeting last week, folks from their teams are going to be laid off tomorrow. It is coming. Seems like after last week's bloodbath, vmware HR finalized to pull the trigger.
What do you mean?
Sales restructure is planned for second week of Feb, seems odd to do a round next week and then another 2 weeks later?
I've heard 23rd and 24th are the RIF days. There will be 5-10% impacts from what I am hearing but that is still a lot of people. Good luck.
How were they informed that they’d been laid off?
What did severance look like?
It has started already, we had some same team in a different region laid off Thursday
