Thread regarding Sears layoffs

I Know this is going to be unpopular, & that I'm going to get downvoted, but I don't think any of these are closing soon at all. The 3 FB pages that OP linked, are all very active. And whoever runs those pages (assuming the store manager or whatever) seem very adamant, when they are asked by customers, that their stores are NOT closing.

If there were any imminent closures in any of those, then the pages would not be so active, nor would their managers be so adamant that they are staying open. So I don't think any of these 3, nor any of the 5 off-Shore Kmarts, will be closing soon. Probably not for several Years. I just simply don't see a single shred or iota of evidence, that any of them are closing.

For example, Miami just recently downsized. Why would they go through all that effort of downsizing if they were just going to close anyway? I think we are stuck with these remaining 8 Kmarts, for the long haul.

None of the remaining ones are likely to close any Time soon (or in the case of Guam and USVI, they are not likely to close EVER). Those 5 off-Shore, ones, are Profitable and will never close.

The 3 stateside ones, have a clause where he has to keep those stores running, so they likely won't be closing, at least in the next few Years. Sorry, as much as I hate Kmart and want them gone, I don't think the store counts will be changing for a long Time. We are likely stuck with 8 Kmarts for my Life Time, at least, if not my kids' and grandkids' too. I think, even in the Year 3023, people will still be shopping at Guam Kmart and people here will be writing fake closing stories about it.

OK, basically this post states nothing. We Know there are 3 mainland Kmarts left. When you have a closing, then post. Until then, go Watch some movies.

Agree. None of the 3 stores on the mainland can be in because of their profitability. I think the same could be said of all of the full-line Sears stores as well.

I went to the Miami store earlier in the week. It looked like a store in the process of liquidation and the food and health/beauty sections are the only ones decently stocked. I know the plan is to only stock that sort of product and move into a smaller section but the whole thing is bizarre. Unless there's some clause in their lease that is so incredibly ironclad that the store cannot close in any circumstance aside from another bankruptcy filing, I can't see it lasting. It has literally nothing of value or uniqueness. There is no reason to shop there instead of CVS or Walgreens.

Much as we used to measure the "store within a store" Kmart inside the NYC Sears as .5 of a Kmart, Miami should be considered .5 of a store at this point. That's being generous.
