Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

There's no way the layoff is over

Elliot is known for slicing and dicing companies they acquired. There's no way the layoff is over. The later you get laid off, the worse the severance package. It's better to get laid off in the very first wave, when the company is still generous with the packages.

I thought this deserved to be on the top. @uja+1kKRnFko hit the nail on the head.

I’ve been in the tech world for a long, long time and understand that there is no job security in this field. Small places get merged with layoffs. Big companies routinely chop. You just need to look for places that actually promote staff (so you can get a title change for future resumes plus pay increases) and that aren’t toxic. Read Glassdoor reviews. Google for all company reviews. Search for the name of the company plus history of layoffs. Read their name here. Few people last anymore past five MAYBE ten years, eventually you are chopped or realize you are dead-ended.

Layoff is definitely not over, it hasn't even started yet in Belgium where we may know more next week... ???
What kind of thing is this to do to an employee? It's been 10 days we know that people are going to be fired in Europe but we need to wait to know who?
I mean, Nielsen is not only a dead end place to work for but is dead anyway, good luck retaining motivated collaborators while treating them like this!
Shame on you Nielsen!!

I've been applying for jobs for more than 6 months. Haven't had much luck. It's not that I don't want to leave. The writing's been on the wall for a while. Nielsen is a dead end job. But I don't think the job market is as hot as people say it is?

I think I'm safe for now but honestly feel like leaving because the future here is so uncertain...

For those let go and those now planning to leave, a word of advice, look for smaller companies that are growing and have good online reputations.

It's an ongoing process. Always. I guess we have to live with that from now on. To every company we go. Especially the bigger ones.
