Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

There is life outside this company

Here's my 2¢ - Looking for a job while you still have a job looks better on the resume. I don't understand those who are still suffering here and waiting to be laid off. Why are you doing that? Maybe for some it is not so easy to find a new job, but it is definitely possible when you put in the effort.

Well I got my package already, a cool 6 million thank you very much.

The rest of you in countries with strong labour laws should hold firm and not leave without the package.

Honestly, maybe there's better luck getting jobs in general tech companies, but within the communications space, more than one person has said that the "A" team left Avaya long ago.

It’s time to leave. Give AM the chance to get some new blood and fresh energy - our blood has been drained and energy burned up with poor quality and constant fight just to get even the most basic thing done.

It’s been a Kafka-esq situation for more than 5 years: can’t hire staff to complete projects, can’t use 3 party but must bring revenue, get good csat scores and complete projects on time.

I pity anyone left on delivery teams - it’s not less with less, it’s stress with less. Avaya has never had a senior management team that understood how services works.

For the non skilled who won't leave until pushed out, yes, Avaya pays them more than anyone else would.

For the skilled...they can get more elsewhere

“ Pays as well as Avaya “ LOL ! The destination place to work doesn’t come any where close to what other vendors, integrators and partners pay their folks….

You are right about looking for a job while in a job but you also have to take into account that certainly over in Europe the severance packages those guys are receiving are huge. For an Avayan pushing 15 to 20 years service on high 5 figures carrying a quota the payouts will be $200k plus and a portion of that is tax free. It’s a no brainier sitting tight for a layoff. It makes a joke of our severance process !

My guess would be some of these folks know they will never find a job that's pays as well as Avaya and that's why they've been hanging around like grim death hoping to weather the storm or get the "package". When I left a common thread amongst the left behinds was incompetence.
