Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

OGP Success

The huge success of OGP in the last two quarters opens an opportunity to close high theft stores and turn them into OGP and eCommerse pick up sites. Closed to public shopping, but still carry the same items for ordering online.

Yes, that could be a flavor, as well. There are existing stores and facilities that once made sense, but now, through time and other factors, no longer fit inside the wanted business model.

For example, it would totally make sense for walmart to get completely out of locations such as Atlanta, St. Louis, Portland, Seattle and Chicago. Put new locations in Buckhead. Convert existing locations in Baby Boomer retirement areas.

None of this is rocket science. Walmart will do the kind of business it wants at the locations it wants. That is Business 101, basic common sense.

As seen in recent store closures, the strategy is not to run pickup/delivery only locations, but to close stores and expand the pickup/delivery capabilities of other surrounding facilities.

That’s absolutely wrong. OGP is bringing in their budget estimates, plus more. However, to really assess the success of OGP, you have to look at the associated wins, like increased customer acceptance, use of express ordering, app usage, and more. Baby boomers, soccer moms, single parents and dads on the way home from work. OGP is a big success and we’re going to see it grow. In the not so distant future we’ll see stores converted to OGP and online order pickup centers. Order your goods, then drive to the center, associates will load your car and you’re on your way home.

Too bad OGP is a money loser for the company

Capitol assets belonging to Sam’s are just that, capitol assets belonging to Sam’s. It’s not like Walmart can just take them and do anything they like. But, I do agree with the statement about buying Walmart stock. That’s a great idea.

What about the closed Sam's clubs? They are just sitting around from that win win idea. Sounds like the plan all along. Lay thoes associates off. Automation doesn't need them. WOW a good reason to buy walmart stock if your still working.

The OGP business is booming. That will probably work out perfectly.
